Starcare names Nasser Batha as group CEO

The Starcare Group which started its journey in 2010 in Oman has made remarkable progress in establishing itself as the benchmark for accreditation quality healthcare in the country. The group has expanded its footprints beyond Oman to India and UAE in the past years apart from the ambitious super speciality projects in progress. Clearly, on the verge of a new horizon, the group is in need of strong and multifaceted leader with astute business acumen. The Chairman and Board of Directors unanimously nominated Mr Nasser Batha, Founding Partner of the Group to assume responsibility as the CEO of Starcare Group in Oman.

A sought after management professional and a passionate entrepreneur, Nasser Batha has been heading business units of international brands like EMAAR, AMADEUS, Emirates, KLM and others across the globe in an extensive career spanning 3 decades. Hailed for expansions, start-ups and turnaround ventures, he demonstrates pro-active leadership and ability to deliver financial and business growth. An MBA from Bradford, UK, Nasser keeps abreast with the developments in the field and remains a strong advocate of technology and innovation. Welcoming the new CEO, Dr Sadik Kodakat, Chairman, Starcare Group remarked “Nasser has always been part of the key decisions and strategies made by Starcare. But now, we will have his dedicated attention to the business as we pursue our ambitious growth plans in Oman”.

An analytical thinker and quick decision maker, Nasser benefits from his vast experience in the Middle East and Europe part from his ability to handle seven languages. He would be responsible for all the operating units of Starcare in Oman including hospitals at Seeb, Barka and Medical Centres at Bowsher, Mabela and Duqm. “We hope the new CEO would be able to shape the Corporate strategy in line with the expansion plans of the group and the specific requirements of Oman.” said Dr Askar Kukkadi, Managing Director, Starcare Group.

The healthcare sector in Oman is undergoing rapid changes highlighted by the presence of private hospitals and the government initiatives to encourage private sector and PPP ventures. Oman is a youthful country with strong economic indicators and rising population along with prevalence of chronic diseases indicating the need for customized healthcare solutions. Starcare has always believed in adapting the Western standards of quality to suit the healthcare requirements of the nation. “It is my personal goal to increase opportunities for Omani nationals, train and enhance their skills in the process to develop a sustainable healthcare delivery model” commented Nasser Batha in his interaction with the staff members. The group is planning to add 400 beds in the next 5 years including the prestigious Starcare Healthcity Muscat and a chain of low-cost clinics.
